MDS Blister Packs: Medication Sorted by Day and Time

By the Village Green Pharmacy team · Updated September 2026
Weekly MDS blister pack sorted by day and time

What a blister pack is

An MDS tray, also called a blister pack or dosette box, holds a week of medication sorted into compartments by day and by time of day — morning, lunchtime, evening and night.

Instead of managing several boxes and remembering which tablet goes when, you push out one compartment at the right time. Each one is clearly labelled with what it contains.

Who finds them useful

People taking several medicines at different times of day, anyone who has had trouble remembering doses, patients recently out of hospital with a changed medication list, and families or carers looking after someone else's medication.

They are not automatically the right answer for everyone. Some medicines cannot go in a tray, and for people managing well already, the pack can add complication rather than remove it. The pharmacist will talk it through honestly with you.

Joining the waiting list

Blister packs take real pharmacy time to prepare each week, so we run a waiting list rather than promising an immediate start. Add your name through the website or in the pharmacy and we will contact you when a space comes up.

There is no charge to join and no charge for the service.

Delivered with the rest

If you have your prescriptions delivered, the tray comes with them.
