Pharmacy Open on Sunday in Acocks Green
By the Village Green Pharmacy team · Updated September 2026
Open every Sunday, 10am to 8pm
Sunday is the hardest day to find an open pharmacy. GP surgeries are closed, most community pharmacies are shut, and the usual advice is to wait until Monday or travel to a hospital.
Village Green Pharmacy is open every Sunday from 10am until 8pm. That is a full ten-hour day, not a token morning, and the pharmacist is on site for the whole of it.
What Sunday opening is useful for
Collecting a prescription your GP sent electronically on Friday
Pharmacy First assessment for a sore throat, earache, urinary infection, sinusitis, shingles, impetigo or an infected insect bite
Emergency contraception, which is time-sensitive and cannot wait for Monday
Advice on a child's temperature, rash or cough when the surgery is closed
Buying medicines that are only available from behind the pharmacy counter
If your prescription has not arrived yet
If your GP has not sent the prescription through, we cannot dispense it — but it is still worth calling us on 0121 448 4336 before you travel, as we can check whether it is showing on the NHS spine and tell you either way in a minute.
For anything urgent when a GP is needed rather than a pharmacist, call NHS 111. They can arrange an urgent prescription out of hours and will often send it to a pharmacy open on the day.
